Love my purchase and can’t believe that it took me two months to decide what brand and model planer I should purchase. The planer is easy to setup and use. From box to running first board through the planer 5 minutes. In goes a unacceptable piece of wood and PUFF out comes a piece of gold. I have used the planer for five days and I cannot find a single negative thing. Purchase with full confidence in Dewalt .
wheni got thisi used the regular cutter head to see how it worked and it was good smooth and with little to no snipe. but running the kind of wood i use (pallet) it only took a few passes before i nicked the knives just a little but still. i spent this morning changing the cutter head to a helical cutter head this was a lux 3 cutterhead with 40 separate cutters and wow what a difference in both quality and noise. the sound was much lower and the shaving much smaller and it was as sooth as well you know. yes the heads cost a bit more at fist blush but they actualy saveyou cash in the long run a lot of cash not only are they harder to nick but if you do get one you just lossen on carbide cutter and turn it ninety degrees and you can do that three more times too. I love this planer and i love the new head and it is not difficult to change just be careful as the cutters and wickedly sharp.
I haven't had an opportunity to use it on a product yet, but I'm checked out on it with scrap. It's very heavy, but I also bought the easy to assemble table to keep it on. The table moves easily, and I like the table pieces on the planer that allow wood to slide out in a level fashion.
